These terms apply to this website and to enquiries made through it. The lodges in the Black Rhino Game Reserve set their own payment and cancellation terms, which differ between them, so the terms shown on the lodge’s own page apply to your booking and take precedence over anything general said here.

Enquiries are not bookings
Sending an enquiry does not reserve anything. It is a request for availability. A booking exists only once we have confirmed it to you in writing and the required deposit has been received. Until then, dates and rates may change or be taken by someone else.
Rates
Rates are shown in South African Rand and include VAT at 15 per cent unless stated otherwise. They exclude the conservation levy, which is charged per person per night and shown separately.
We take care to publish rates accurately and to date them by season. Rates are subject to availability and to confirmation at the time of booking. Where an obvious error appears — a figure that is plainly wrong rather than merely higher or lower than you hoped — we will tell you before confirming, and you are free to decline.
Payment and cancellation
These vary by lodge. The exact deposit, payment schedule and cancellation schedule for your stay appear under the Terms tab on that lodge’s page, and are repeated in your booking confirmation. Broadly:
- Bookings made close to arrival require full payment shortly after booking.
- Bookings made further ahead require a deposit, with the balance due before arrival.
- Cancellation charges increase as the arrival date approaches.
- A minimum stay may apply, particularly over weekends and in certain seasons.
Nothing here limits your right under section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 to cancel an advance booking, subject to a reasonable cancellation penalty.
Activities, wildlife and your safety
This is an unfenced Big Five reserve sharing a boundary with the Pilanesberg National Park. Dangerous animals move freely through it, including around the lodges. Game drives, bush walks and other activities carry real risks that cannot be removed.
You must follow the instructions of guides and lodge staff at all times. Children remain the responsibility of the adults travelling with them.
Before taking part in game activities you will be asked to read and sign an indemnity. We draw your attention to it now, in advance, because it limits liability and asks you to accept risk — and because section 49 of the Consumer Protection Act requires that such terms be pointed out specifically and agreed to by signature. If you would like to read it before you travel, ask us and we will send it.
Liability
We are responsible for what we do wrong, and we do not attempt to exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not permit us to exclude.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by events outside our control, including weather, road conditions, animal behaviour, power or water interruptions, or the acts of third parties such as transfer operators and tour guides you engage directly. We recommend comprehensive travel insurance for every guest.
This website
We work to keep the site accurate, but content, images and availability change. Nothing on it is an offer capable of acceptance until we confirm your booking in writing.
The text, photographs and design are ours or used with permission, and may not be copied or republished without our written consent.
Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, and requests for access to records are handled under our PAIA manual.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
