Accommodation

We can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests. Tambuti Lodge consists of five luxury suites all fitted with contemporary furnishings. Surrounded by striking Tambuti Trees, all the suites offer spectacular bush views, each air-conditioned with en-suite bathroom equipped with twin hand basins, bath, indoor and outdoor showers, separate toilet, complete with a private outside patio.

Check-in and Check-out

• Check in is at 13.00 – check out is at 11.00 a.m.
• The lodge cannot accommodate early check ins. Please ensure that your transport to and from the lodge is arranged timeously to coincide with our check-in and check-out times.

Deposit Policy

For all bookings made within 30 days of travel
Full payment Is required within 48 hours of your booking.

For all bookings made more than 30 days of travel
A 50% deposit Is required within 48 hours of your booking and the balance 30 days prior to arrival.

Payment can be made via bank transfer, credit card (Master/Visa) or bitcoin.

Cancellation Policy

• 50% cancellation fee if cancelled 30 days and less prior to arrival.
• 75% cancellation fee if cancelled 14 days and less prior to arrival.
• 100% cancellation fee if cancelled 7 days and less prior to arrival, or no show.
• All reservations, amendments or cancellations are valid only if advised and accepted in writing.

No Show

• Non-arrivals will be subject to 100% of the rate for the entire period of the reservation

Please note that no refunds will be given for any Covid and lockdown related cancellations. We will gladly move your booking to a later date.

Black Rhino Reserve

Black Rhino is a private game reserve, incorporated into the Pilanesberg National Park on the north-western side. This lower-lying reserve’s sweet veld vegetation complements the Pilanesberg’s predominantly mixed sour veld.

Pilanesberg National Park

Pilanesberg National Park has five public gates with an additional gate for the private Black Rhino Reserve.

Sun City activities

• Valley of Waves — Sun City’s legendary hub for all kinds of water fun, with activities that appeal to adventurers of all ages.

Area activities

• Archery — a sport of precision and concentration. The guides will show you how best to use the power generated by the bow.
• Birding safaris — take your binoculars and camera to spot some of the more than 300 bird species in the Pilanesberg. The large raptors are fascinating, but the detail and colour of the smaller species are no less intriguing.
• Photographic safaris — capture the beauty of the park and the wildlife, including the Big 5, during a game drive with the help of your rangers and guides.
• Quad bike — a great way to traverse rough surfaces. Tours are accompanied by expert guides and are suitable even for the complete novice.
• Hot air balloon — experiencing the Pilanesberg National Park in a hot air balloon is an incredibly tranquil experience, with no turbulence and only the occasional firing of the burner.

Directions from Gauteng

Travel along the N4 and take the R556 exit to Sun City. From the gate of Sun City continue travelling in the direction of Rustenburg for approximately 4 km on the R556. At the 4-way stop street, turn right and travel approximately 30 km on the R565 where you will find the entrance of Black Rhino Game Reserve on your right-hand side. It is a tar road all the way to the entrance of the reserve.

On arrival at the Black Rhino Reserve gate, please state that you are staying at Lodge Number 15 — Tambuti Lodge.

The Black Rhino Reserve

Black Rhino is a private game reserve, incorporated into the Pilanesberg National Park on the north-western side. This lower-lying reserve’s sweet veld vegetation complements the Pilanesberg’s predominantly mixed sour veld. This type of habitat is known to carry a wide variety of game species and sightings of elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. There are over 350 bird species present. The reserve has its own private entrance on the western side.

The reserve is characterised by huge numbers of Tambuti trees and therefore we have regular sightings of the shy and scarce black rhino. These trees also play host to an incredibly wide variety of bird species, making the area a birding paradise.

Tambuti Lodge’s magnificent landscapes are host to a wide variety of game species. Pilanesberg National Park

The Pilanesberg National Park is 55 000 hectares in extent and borders on the Sun City entertainment complex. The most remarkable feature of this destination is the 1 200 million-year-old volcano crater with Mankwe Lake in the centre. Because of its positioning between the Kalahari and Lowveld, vegetation from both areas is located on this terrain.

The park is native to all species of animals that naturally occur in this region of South Africa, including the Big Five, wild dog, and rarer species such as brown hyena, tsessebe and aardwolf. The park also offers a number of picnic spots, numerous hides for game watching, a walk-in aviary, safari game drives and hot air balloon flights over the park.
